I am thrilled beyond words to be writing this as your District Governor. I've spent the past two years preparing for this role and have truly been looking forward to it.

Before my installation even occurred, I had the privilege of installing 6 new Club Presidents, awarding 9 individuals as Paul Harris Fellows, and inducting 8 new Rotarians. These ceremonies never get old. Each Presidential installation is exciting in that it begins a brand new Rotary year and ensures that each Club is continuing to move forward. The Paul Harris awards are often moving and come with a unique story of commitment. But the new member inductions are the best. I hope to do lots of those this year.

Next, it was my turn to be installed. Thanks to my Weymouth Rotary Club and new President Jay Walker for organizing it. And a shout out to all of you who travelled a distance to join us. It was a bit non-traditional, but filled with lots of food, fun, and fellowship.

And now it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty of being your District Governor. As of this writing, I've met with 7 clubs...just 58 more to go between now and November! My visits are meant for you to meet me, but more importantly, for me to meet YOU and to hear about your goals, activities, and issues. My goal as your District Governor is to see that every single Rotarian in our District identifies his/her passion and acts upon it to make a difference. It is my job and my HONOR to help with that. Here's to a great year!

REMINDERS:
Anything of interest to the District regarding your club activities or announcements can be sent to me to be included on the website and/or newsletter. You should also list upcoming events on the District calendar. Chuck Sauer, web master, will be emailing instructions to each President soon.

A new addition to the district web site is the inclusion of Photo Albums. Send me pictures of your special events/projects so they can be included in the section Around the District.

The 2017-2018 District Directory is now available. I will get copies to your club as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the electronic version is posted on the District web site under Club Resources, Forms and Downloads. You can copy it to your desktop and use “Control F” to easily access information, leadership and committee contacts.

The Wakefield Rotary Club had a successful Balloon Fest. Do you know about Rotary Fellowships? Rotary Fellowships unite Rotarians in friendship and provide venues for enjoying their favorite recreational or professional activities, anything from Amateur Radio to Wine Appreciation.
