February, 2018

Looking ahead at the calendar, our Rotary year has four months left...and they're big ones. I'm trying to get to each club for a second visit...if our schedules allow. Also, the final plans for our Multi-District Conference in Plymouth are being polished, as well as the District Assembly in Westport.

The Northeast President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) in Framingham is March 8 to 10th. We need a PE from every club to attend, and if your PE cannot attend, please send a representative from your club. Contact Bill Tennant, 508-479-5606 or billtdg2018@gmail.com, to make arrangements.  As you can see, our year is two-thirds over, but there are a lot of great things to do before we finish.

I'd like to recognize and thank Billy Roberts and his Membership Committee for the great presentation at the Mid-Year/Pre-PETS a few weeks ago. It was the first attempt to include a membership breakout session and it was so successful that we are hoping to include another one at the District Assembly. Well done!

On a personal note - as you read this, I'll be on my way to Guatemala with Weymouth Rotarians Steve Gilman and Brian Haggerty. We'll be continuing to work on a Global Grant for Safe Passage in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Las Americas in Guatemala City. While there we will also be able to attend their District Conference. These trips recharge my Rotary batteries!

As you know, Rotary is notorious for acronyms. Have you heard this one? ECEY! It’s a new one I have created, unique to D7950. It stands for Every Club Every Year. I would like every club in the district to donate to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund – SHARE and Polio Plus to meet the Rotary Foundation’s pledge to raise $50 Million dollars per year over the next three years. I’m not looking for much, even as little as $10 per member….just something from every club in the district so we can be ECEY. Click here for TRF Multi-Donor form. Let’s have D7950 be a 100% club contributor to The Rotary Foundation.

There are some new photo albums on www.rotary7950.com. Were you at the Mid-Year Meeting at Whites? See the new Photo Album for lots of pictures. Send us photos of your projects and activities and we will create a photo album for your club. And don’t forget to list your fundraisers and activities on the District Calendar. Do you have any good ideas for projects, fundraisers, or activities? Don’t keep the great things you do a secret….send them to us so I can share them in my newsletter.

International Projects: After viewing the photo albums, scroll down to Presentations to learn about the Rotary Club of Harwich/Dennis’ International Service Projects. Six international projects in twelve years! Congratulations!
