I can’t believe my first month as District Governor is over!!

Debbie and I have visited 11 clubs so far. Regardless of size every club is doing wonderful things in their community. At morning, noon and evening meetings we were met with energy and enthusiasm and FUN!!!

The most important message we can bring to the clubs from President Barry Rassin is to take care of the members first! When the clubs are happy things get done. District Committees are ramping up and we look forward to updates from Membership, Communication, Peace and Conflict Resolution and the new Opioid Awareness Committee to name a few.

We are sure the next few months will be a whirlwind of meetings and look forward to every one!

I was honored to join PDG Dave Clifton and Rona Mann on Service Matters, a service oriented radio show to discuss Rotary and how we support the local and global community.

The Annual ROTARY NIGHT AT THE PAWSOX is upon us and we look forward to another FUN night at McCoy Stadium. Bring your friends and family who enjoy baseball to this FAMILY FRIENDLY stadium. Use the form at right or check with your club's coordinator for the PawSox event.

District Communications and Membership Chairs Tarah Warner and Billy Roberts shared the results of a survey that shows what direction we need to go to make District Events more appealing to members. Leadership has taken to heart  and will address the concerns that were expressed about cost, travel time and types of events.

Seventeen members and friends of the Providence Rotary Club swabbed their cheeks for genetic testing to register for possible participation in research to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Club president Art Norwalk called it "a great opportunity for service right at our meeting." If you're interested in holding a "swabbing party" for Alzheimer's research at your club, contact Sara Hooley at Butler Hospital (SHooley@butler.org).

The International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians (IFSR) has presented the Falmouth Rotary Club with its Youth Service Award for the club's collaboration with Cub Scout Pack 41 in East Falmouth in a tree-planting project.

First Lady’s thoughts- by Deb Zukowski
What it’s like to be a partner?
As Bill’s administrator,  I have met many Rotarians’ partners and heard many stories. It’s important we realize the impact that being a Rotarian has on our partners. They may not appreciate our passion for Rotary just because we have it. It’s important that we realize they are waiting for us while we fulfill our Rotary passions at meetings, socials, community service projects, etc. We must keep our 4 “P’s” in order:
  • Personal
  • Partner
  • Parent
  • Profession
Involving family members in Rotary will make this easier.

What's going on in your club that you'd like to share with Rotarians throughout the district? Send info and a picture to Deb: daz9250@gmail.com

Yours in Rotary service,

Bill
