In screening and discussing a documentary film titled Nazi Law: Legally Blind, Scituate, Mass., Rotarians got “a true reminder for us all to remain diligent in our humanitarian efforts to make this world a better and safer place,” in the words of club president Lucille Sorrentino.
Produced by Boston College professors John and Susan Michalczyk, the film examines post-World War II relationships in German communities where perpetrators and victims of Nazi persecution lived side by side.
Rotary has supported several of the Michalczyks’ films on conflict resolution and John Michalczyk is an honorary member of the Scituate club.
“If we can help create a better democratic life, a more civil society that can work together in peace,” says John, “we will be happy to have achieved our goal.”
